what’s your favorite samich? ;)
Oh, it’s so strange I can’t even say! Okay, it’s cinnamon raisin toast with Tofutti cream cheese and fakin’ bacon. Isn’t that alarming?
Oh, and you don’t have to install Yahoo. Just go to http://webmessenger.yahoo.com and sign in there. It just takes a minute.
I’d prefer to use the formspring.me forum. Or, if you like, my email account is public: nullalux@gmail.com. Cheers!
Oh wow, really? Ok, then say you had a guy friend who admitted to you that he has a huge fantasy of having someone watching him masturbating. And he said you were the only person he trusted to ask to watch him. How would you honestly react?
I am sorry to report that unless said hypothetical guy was a very close friend (with some measure of mutual attraction involved), I wouldn’t be likely to pursue such a generous offer.
It does depend partly on context, of course. If we were at a certain kind of party, for example, in pleasant company, comfortable surroundings, and with encouragement from a current partner of mine, then by all means, wank away. Whee! :)
Does your ontology recapitulate?
Do you mean ontology or ontogeny?
Ontogenically (discrediting the phylogenetic implications, of course), I would characterize my own intellectual development as nonlinear; however, I do believe in a cultural recapitulation theory of education, i.e., that children have the aptitude to acquire knowledge via miniature representations of civilizations. Education, therefore, ought to be developmentally-appropriate, both physically and intellectually.
Ontologically, on the other hand, I lean towards Stoicism, as exemplified by Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius, with a nod to Aristotle, of course (including his writings on Socrates). However, it can be argued that these figures (with the exception of Aristotle) did not address the nature of existence as such, but rather what we ought to do with our own. I’m not really a fan of metaphysics per se.
And as an atheist, I certainly do not believe that Christ or any other religious figure recapitulates human existence, except perhaps in a fictionalized literary capacity. I prefer Castaneda’s idea that in recording one’s life, particularly focusing on details (or moments, as I prefer to call them) frees us from the limitations of our personhood, again in a literary rather than spiritual capacity.
NOTES
Ok, say you were in a hotel by yourself at night. You looked out the window and across the way you saw an attractive guy “enjoying himself” in his room. He had no idea you could see. Would you watch? Or close the blinds?
I would watch. I’m one o’ them preverts, and that joyful activity is an especial favorite of mine.
Of course, there would be moral guilt regarding consent. Did he choose to leave his blinds open?
Perhaps I’d leave a cryptic sign in my window and return the favor the next night. ;)
What are you listening to these days?
Right now I can’t get enough of Larkin Grimm. Enchanting, luminous and wild.
My current playlist also includes old favorites Elliott Smith, Iron & Wine, Leonard Cohen, The Smiths, Tom Waits, The Cure, Bright Eyes, Dresden Dolls, Amanda Palmer, Vermillion Lies, The Pixies, Richard Thompson, Regina Spektor, Jonathan Richman, Violent Femmes, and the Velvet Underground.
What does it mean to be an imperfect bird?
Well, Rumi says that each of us must enter the nest made by the other imperfect bird. One wonders if this can possibly be enough, be real…but here it is, and it is.
What one thing are you exceptionally good at?
A turn of phrase here and there. And BJs, of course.
NOTES
What does “hirrient” mean?
hirrient - adj., (of a sound) heavily trilled
How is it you get to play with so many turtles and tortoises?
I work with the D-B— house in Belmont, as humane educator and facility manager. They have Galápagos tortoises, Egyptian Dwarf, Indian Star and Redfoot tortoises, baby Radiated tortoises, frog, chameleon, snakes, various mice and crickets, lovebird, bearded dragon, and garden of carnivorous plants. Um, and a Peke-a-poo named Staphe A.
At home, we have a box turtle named Gilgamesh, two kitlings (Spencer and Madeleine, the Bengal), a cockatiel (Hektor), two bunnies (Quill and Fava Bean), and two mouses (Neville and Exhibit M). All are rescues.
Are you really that hazy? What is your solid form?
I feel blurry most days, if that’s what you mean. I am non-Newtonian in nature.
